No Recess for the 28 Pages Movement: HRes 428 Lands Three New Cosponsors

Even while Congress was in recess, the drive to declassify the 28-page finding on foreign government support of the 9/11 hijackers continued to make progress: On the first day back from the break, three more representatives signed on as cosponsors of House Resolution 428, which urges the president to release the 28 pages.

The three are two Texans—Gene Green and Lloyd Doggett—and Minnesota’s Keith Ellison. All three are Democrats, bringing the cosponsor list to a beautifully bipartisan balance of 10 Democrats and 10 Republicans.

In other cosponsor news, Congresswoman Louise Slaughter’s reelection was in doubt for several days after the election, but her challenger has now conceded the race, having lost by only 869 votes.

Four cosponsors—all Republicans—will not be in the next Congress. For more on how HRes 428 cosponsors fared on election day, see our recap.
